9am, Monday Morning in Mid-October

Somewhere on a mountain top,

carving it like a pumpkin,

and landing in the bosom of the Pacific Ocean.

In the Midwest right now, the air is crisp and the mornings bring a kind of cold you seemed to have forgotten about over the last 4 months. Trees are changing and somewhere in the back of your mind you know your last ride for the season is closer than you'd like it to be.

But in sunny Southern California, I was told the riding season extended on forever, and that every day is as beautiful as the last. And you know what? It's true. I've always loved fall in Michigan for it's calming effect on the spirits and soul. But after sticking it out thru 26 brutal winters in the north, something about sunshine, ocean vistas and canyon roads is really doin' it for me. A new kind of meditation, a new slice of the continent to explore. Bring on the never ending summer.
